The Law of Attraction: 4 powerful steps to manifestation

Have you ever wondered why some people appear to have it all?

Perhaps you’ve worked with someone who seems to go from idea to action with record speed. Maybe you even have a friend or a partner who always gets what they want.  It’s easy to dismiss this as being “lucky”, but perhaps it’s more.  

What if they just happened to be effectively requesting what they want in this lifetime and then receiving it? And, even more exciting, imagine that this process could be simply described and immediately available to and for you.

What is The Law of Attraction?

Put simply, the Law of Attraction is twofold: that like attracts like and that thoughts become things.  Since our thoughts are energy, they create a vibration and so it makes sense that what you would think about, you will create more of.  The more you think a thought, the more you water that seed and the more you draw the result to you.  Whether conscious or not, this universal law is always working; it’s simply up to us to decide whether it is working for us and against us.  

Esther Hicks, in her work sharing the teachings of Abraham, is considered one of the thought leaders on the concept of the Law of Attraction. Her understanding of the subject was the foundational inspiration for much of what became the hit book and subsequently a film, “The Secret.”  In a recent post, she shared the following:

“No matter what it is, if you really want it, and if you get out of the way of it, it will happen. It must be. It is Law. It can be no other way. It’s the way this Universe is established. If you want it and you relax, it will happen.”

The book The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, has sold over 30 million copies.  Using techniques like gratitude and visualization, The Secret has been the first stop for many seeking to learn more about the subject. It uses simple language and science-based evidence to make tangible a more spiritual concept.  

Why the Law of Attraction Works Unfailingly

If our minds have the power to effect change as evidenced in studies on the power of prayer or imprinting with animals, imagine what we could do if we focused that power of consciously choosing that which we want to attract.  Conversely, it is clear why negative thoughts and anxiety actually create more of what we wish to avoid.  

A recent Forbes article discusses how one of the founding fathers of quantum physics and Nobel Prize winner Max Planck once said:

“As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clearheaded science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about the atoms this much: There is no matter as such! All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together… We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter.”

Similarly, Einstein was quoted as saying:

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

Who is currently using the power of manifesting 

The website for The Secret mentions that among celebrities, the Law of Attraction continues to receive enthusiastic praise.

For example, Oprah Winfrey famously promoted The Secret, and actors Will Smith and Jim Carey have publicly discussed the impact the Law of Attraction has had on their lives.

As you begin to think about all the things in your life you are grateful for, you will be amazed at the never ending thoughts that come back to you of more things to be grateful for. You have to make a start, and then the Law of Attraction will receive those grateful thoughts and give you more just like them.”

In everyday life, people mentioning what they’ve created, imagined or manifested is becoming more commonplace.

By now, you may be wondering what the value would be in your individual life to make this new way of thinking and being worth the effort. Let’s explore that for a moment.  What would your life look like if you had the:

  • Career
  • Health
  • Family
  • Romantic Partnership
  • Impact 

…of your DREAMS?  What would that feel like?  What would the ripple effect of that level of satisfaction do to impact the world the around you?

The 4 steps to the manifestation of anything you want

After 27 years of studying under, learning with and assisting the world’s oldest yoga teacher Tao Porchon-Lynch, I had the honor of teaching thousands how to use the power of their minds to create the lives of their dreams. We used breath work, movement and meditation to help people get out of their own way and begin to receive all that they sought with less struggle and more ease. 

I was inspired to simplify the message and take it “off the mat” and into the real lives of the masses. This process is so simple that we can all use it, for all things, all of the time.  


This may seem intuitive but it is worth noting the need to be extremely specific. For example, if someone has a goal to lose weight for their wedding day and has a general desire for that result, they may wonder why they came down a horrendous stomach before their big day. A way to ensure that the goal is truly what you desire is to be crystal clear as to what you really want.  

HELPFUL HINT – Always use language that includes what you DO want as opposed to the absence of what you DON’T. (for example, if you want to be “debt free”, you are actually focusing on more debt. Swap that for words like “financially abundant” or “making more money that you can possibly spend”.)


Have absolute faith that not only are you worthy of your deepest desires but that they are yours for the taking. See yourself in the result and see it with joy. If your goal is to help feed the hungry, imagine yourself doing that in a way that activates as many of the senses as possible. 

HELPFUL HINT – This is not a step that should be quickly crossed off the to-do list. Find a quiet time to daydream, meditate or visualize yourself living the result of your dream.  If seeing it proves challenging, consider writing a letter of gratitude from the perspective of having already achieved it. 


Now is the time to LET GO. When we truly want a result, it is easy to become hyper focused on the outcome. In that respect, we think we can control the speed of the process. In fact, we actually benefit from focusing in an area that already brings up the FEELING of the outcome. So, if what we crave is fun, focus on an aspect of life that already feels fun. If we’re looking for money, put your energy in an arena that already feels abundant. 

HELPFUL HINT – This is where the faith really comes in. We release the need to control the HOW and simply have faith in the WHAT.  Bonus for maximum success- find a category that already inspires the FEELING of the outcome and put your energy there. It’s similar to the notion of finally remembering the thought we lost the moment we stopped trying to remember it. 


This step may be the simplest but the value cannot be overstated. Gratitude is the key that will unlock the life of your dreams. It activates joy and celebration. Pause after each manifestation to appreciate all that has already manifested. Always remember to do this step before going on to manifesting the next thing.

HELPFUL HINT – If you are a doer, this may not sound like an “action step”. Consider it like this… you would never have a server bring you a meal without thanking them. When your deepest desires are becoming your reality, it is worth reveling in that feeling of gratitude. Then, appreciation will be your next point of attraction and help you to continue the 4 steps as an ongoing and daily practice.
